As the seasons are changing and winter is fast approaching. Now is a good time to make sure that you have winterized your house for the colder weather.

Was your furnace working properly when you shut it off at the end of last winter?  An annual furnace inspection can be beneficial to you as it may help it to run more efficiently in the months ahead.

Do a walk through of spots in your house where you have pipes, the attic, outer walls and particularly crawl spaces. You don’t want to let your pipes freeze. Not only can your pipes burst and need a lot of repair, it can also create damage to your floors, walls and ceilings.  A quick prevention tip is to wrap any exposed pipes with insulation

Check all doors and windows to make sure that they seal properly and don’t allow cold air to get in.

If you’re the type to run away from the cold and are planning on vacationing in a warmer climate be sure to have someone check your home to make sure it is being heated to prevent your pipes from freezing. You may also want to consider turning your water off and draining your pipes if you do not have someone available to check your house periodically.
