Holiday Safety – Tip # 5: Safety in the kitchen for the Holidays

         Keep handles, utensils, etc. from sticking out over the floor or other burners.

         Adjust burner flames so they are no larger than the bottom of the pan. 

        Assume all handles, pots, pans, oven racks and trays are hot.  Use pot holders, gloves and mitts.

         Open oven doors from the side and covered pots from back to front to avoid burns.

         Never use anything wet to handle hot items.

         Hand wash knives and other sharps if possible.  Never leave them in a sink full of dishwater or point up in the dishwasher.
