Walk and park in well-lit areas whenever possible.  Try to avoid walking alone.  When walking to your car, have your keys in your hand.  Keep purse and pocketbook flaps against your body and your arm over them,.  It’s best to wear your purse under your coat.

Avoid carrying packages that block your view.  This will help you avoid slip and trip hazards.

Wallets should be carried in a front pocket not the back.  Be alert when someone accidentally bumps into you.  That’s how pickpockets distract their victims.

Don’t leave smash and grab items (gifts, CD’s cell phones, cameras, cash, etc.) or recent purchases in plain view in your car.  Keep a blanket handy to cover items for when your trunk is full.
