• Cat litter or sand – for being able to get traction if you get stuck

• Shovel – they do make special shovels that are in sections for vehicles (easier storage)

• Tow strap – either to help pull someone else out or to give to someone to pull you out.

• Blanket/sleeping bag – should your vehicle stop running – this will allow you to stay warm.

• Flashlight

• Flares to mark your vehicle, if you are not able to get completely off the road.

• Extra hat and gloves

• Bottled water and granola bars or candy bars are also good items to keep in your vehicle.

Several things you may want to do when you hear there is bad weather heading your way and you have to be out traveling…

• Make sure you have your cell phone fully charged.

• Have a full gas tank.

• Know your route and a possible alternate route just in case your route is not accessible.

Keep safe this winter season.

  1. Kitty litter works great unless it’s the kind that clumps! Thanks for the household tips.
