Here are few tips to relieve the stress or strain your body can have.
When in your home office or at work make sure to have your computer chair adjusted to your computer so that you are at eye level when sitting. By not having it at eye level can cause strain looking up or down in certain positions. It may help to make or buy a stand for underneath your monitor to make it easier for your monitor to be at eye level. Also when at your office desk try to not hold the phone between your shoulder and ear, being on the phone for long periods of time can cause discomfort. If you have a headset available or a blue tooth this can help extremely.
Try to keep your back straight and your head centered over your spine. It helps to sit straight up. If you feel your neck starting to tense up stretch, by rotating your neck and shoulders this can relax the neck muscles. If you feel like your neck is throbbing try using a heating pad. To reduce swelling you should use something cold such as a towel, if your muscles ache, it is best to use something warm to avoid swelling, switch back and forth between the hot and cold treatments.
Make sure to look at your bed to see if the problem lies there. You may want to get a pillow that is curved for more support, also flip your mattress every 3 months that way your bed isn’t sinking to one spot, which can keep your sleepless nights in a rut.
Try to sleep on your back or your side, by sleeping on your stomach adds pressure to your neck.
If you don’t have a heating pad available, take an old tube sock that doesn’t have any holes fill it up with regular old white rice. Tie the open end of the sock into a knot and then put in the microwave for no more than 2 minutes. This works just as good as a heating pad and can last up to 2 hours.
It is recommended that you do not get the rice wet.
