Help I’m Yawning and Can’t Shut Up!
July 31, 2009 on 4:50 pm | In The Heart of Your Home | 1 CommentWarning while writing this Blog I have yawned a total of 20 times, that includes reading other website articles referring to yawning. Please read at your own risk.
In reading this brief article please note and reply after you finish reading this, to see how many yawns if any did you calculate?…….. Inquiring minds such as I would like to know.
Have you yawned today? How many times a day do you yawn?
One of the most mysterious questions ever asked by scientists is:
Why do we yawn? Why are yawns contagious? What does yawning really do for you?
Although scientists have tried many studies from experimenting with classroom observations, oxygen and carbon dioxide there is no real answers.
(The intake of any gases or chemicals is NOT recommended unless overseen by professionals.)
A yawn is basically a deep breath which allows your lungs to stretch. Just like stretching would do for the outside of the body it keeps your muscles from tensing and being stiff. That is why if you try to stop yourself from yawning your body causes you to yawn again because the first yawn wasn’t a good enough of a stretch. That includes the stretching of your face muscles and lungs.
Scientists agree that a yawn is an involuntary respiratory reflex, which regulates the carbon dioxide and oxygen levels in the blood.
A lot of people assume that because someone yawns they are bored or just plain tired, but that is actually not the problem. One of the theories is the reason why you yawn is because your breathing is slowed down that is why your brain tells your body that it’s time to take a deep breath. When you are tired or bored your breathing tends to be slowed down compared to if you were exercising in a gym you necessarily wouldn’t yawn.
Why is it for some people when one person yawns it creates a chain reaction? That question has been ruled out by scientists that a yawn is not a controllable action.
So, the questions are still unanswered but if you think you have a different theory than the above or if you have yawned at least once in reading this please give your input.
