If you get a newspaper daily you are sure to have a lot of them stacking up. Recycling them is a great option but did you know that there are a lot of other helpful uses for them.
1.Absorb the stench. After working all day shoes can be rather smelly, try balling up a section of the newspaper and putting it on the inside of your shoe overnight. Not only will the newspaper absorb the smell, but newspapers also absorb moisture. This tip is also great for absorbing smells from your plastic storage containers, Range Kleen thermoses, drawers, and lunch boxes. If you keep vegetables in a drawer, line the bottom of the drawer with newspaper. This is handy in deodorizing refrigerators too.
2. Make a garden from scratch. Why waste time digging and making a mess of the backyard. All you have to do is mow the area designated for the garden, lay down 3-5 layers of newspaper, cover with leaves, and water the space. Next year when it comes time to plant your garden you will have a ready to plant spot without too much work. When you have grown your first batch of tomatoes and they aren’t as ripe as you thought they could be, wrap them with newspaper to sit out at room temperature to finish the job.
3. Back to school book covers. Why waste money on those fancy book covers. Look at the comics section of your Sunday newspapers and wrap away. You are already paying for the newspaper why spend money when you don’t have to. This is also a great idea for wrapping birthday gifts.
4. Moving on up. When it comes time to pack up and head out use newspaper for cushioning. Wrap delicate items with newspaper. Come Christmas time use newspaper for wrapping and storing special ornaments that you want to last forever.
5. Cleaning windows. To remove smudges with perfection use a cleaning solution while wiping with a newspaper. This removes tough streaks from mirrors too.
