Good for the Lips, Not for the Hips!

Throughout the year we try to be healthy and get on a kick, but towards the holidays it gets harder and harder to stay on the wagon. It’s a lot easier to run through a drive through rather than get up a little earlier and pack a lunch. So if you MUST go through the drive through here are some guidelines to follow to make you feel a little bit better about eating your junk foods.
1. When approaching the menu stay away from Fried, buttery and creamed typed foods. Focus on more baked, grilled, or broth-based foods. Almost every fast food restaurant has a salad that you can add chicken too it.
2. When ordering a salad make sure that the dressing comes on the side. That way you can control how much dressing you need verses how much you want. That goes the same for sauces or gravies.
3. Try ordering a sandwich without the mayonnaise and or other dressings, because most salad dressings have an extremely high calorie count. This also means to stay away from ordering extra cheese.
4. Only super size your meal if you are eating half and saving the other half for tomorrow’s lunch. Even though you get more food for your money that results in more fat and calorie counts.
5. Start watching the nutritional facts. Most fast food restaurants are breaking down what you are really eating. If the restaurant doesn’t offer those facts on your napkin or food container, browse the web to find out exactly what the nutrition facts are. Be conscious and rethink what you should eat, because if they aren’t listing it that should tell you something.
6. Water does the body good. Water not only washes your outsides but your insides to. So instead of getting a pop try substituting that with good ole H2O.
