Know Your “Bird”- The Do’s and Don’ts of Cooking a Turkey!

1. How do you know how much turkey to provide when throwing the Thanksgiving dinner party?
Answer: Take the number of guests you plan to feed and multiply that by 1 and a half pounds.
For 8 Guests = 12 pound Turkey
For 10 Guests = 15 pound Turkey
For 12 Guests = 18 pound Turkey
For 14 Guests = 20 pound Turkey
2. What cooking utensils are best?
Answer: The basic cooking utensils needed are: an oven roasting pan, meat thermometer, baster, aluminum foil, string, sharp knife for carving, roasting bag (optional) and most importantly oven mitts.
3. How long does a turkey last in the freezer?
Answer: A turkey completely frozen when put into the freezer can stay frozen up to 12 months.
4. Are there different ways to thaw a turkey?
Answer: Yes, you can thaw a turkey by putting in the refrigerator, keeping in original packaging and filling up the sink with cold water, or microwave.
