This treat is easy and there’s nothing too it. If you need something simple and feeds a lot of guests, this is the perfect snack for you. Great for joining the family for a fun project together.

All you need is:
An oven set to 200 Degrees
Wax Paper over Cookie Sheets (Depending on # of guests you will need 2-3 sheets)
Bite Size Pretzels (you may prefer to use pretzels shaped in circles or Pretzel Grids)
Your favorite chocolate such as Rolo’s, or Hershey’s kisses
Top off with your favorite M & M or Reese’s Pieces.

Tips: Preparation time can be longer if you don’t peel off individual wrappers first. Because once you get started it’s a pretty fast paced project. Cut down time by spreading all of your pretzels and inserting chocolate into the pretzels on your cookie sheets. But only insert one cookie sheet at a time and allow yourself 3-4 minutes between to allow you time for smushing.

Directions:
Set oven to the temperature 200 degrees. Tear wax paper to fit cookie sheets. Lay out pretzel rings on wax paper; insert kiss or rolo in center of pretzel. Bake in oven for 3-4 minutes, just enough to soften the chocolate. Once softened take the M & M or Reese’s piece and smash down on top of chocolate so that the chocolate fills in the whole ring or open area of the pretzel. Then place cookie sheet in refrigerator or freezer for at least 15- 20 minutes to harden. Repeat process till desired amount.

After chocolate has hardened remove cookie sheet from freezer/ refrigerator, peel off treat from wax paper and serve.

This is a great treat for football gatherings around the tube, Halloween parties, Christmas parties, or any Holiday gathering. If you check your local stores they offer seasonal colors of M & M’s. For example: Christmas: red and green, Easter: pastel colors, Valentines Day: pink and red. You can get pretty creative and themed.

For example for a Halloween party I used Rolo’s topped off with Reese’s pieces to incorporate fall colors. You can do the same at Christmas for example Hershey’s kisses with red or green M & M’s.

Falling into Place
Get your home in order for fall by preparing for cold weather. You can start by making a maintenance checklist day.
Start by shutting off the Air conditioning if you haven’t already done so. Open up the windows and get some fresh air circulating. If your house has vents make sure to sweep up and clean out any dust or particles that may have accumulated over the summer. Next, time to change the air filters in your furnace; depending on the area you live in you may want to consider replacing more or less. Replacing your air filters 1-3 months is recommended if your home has dual forced air entry. Also if you have a fireplace it may be time for a chimney sweep. Replace batteries in smoke detectors and check your homes fire extinguisher once a year as those are only good up to 6-10 years. Outside of the home make sure to clean out your gutters now while it’s a little warmer so you don’t have a problem come winter time. Disconnect water hoses from outside faucets and shut off any valves connected to the outside to prevent freezing. Be sure to empty out any unused fuel in seasonal equipment that will not be used during winter such as lawn mowers, weed eaters etc. This will prevent fuel clogging in the equipments lines.

These are just few tips to mention to keep your home on track.

Try this great recipe at home.

Jamaican Vanilla Ice Cream

8 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
2 cups whole milk
2 cups whipping cream
1 t.vanilla extract
1 t.rum flavoring
¼ cup toasted, shredded coconut

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the egg yolks and sugar and whisk until smooth.

In a small saucepan, heat the milk until just simmering over low heat. The milk shouldn’t boil; it should just begin to bubble. Remove from the heat.

Very slowly add the warm milk in a thin stream to the egg and sugar mixture, stirring constantly with a whisk. When combined well, place in a large saucepan and heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens slightly. This will take about 5 to 7 minutes. Note that the mixture shouldn’t get too hot or boil, which will result in curdling.

Remove from the heat and cool, covered, in the refrigerator until chilled, about 4 to 8 hours.

Add the whipping cream, vanilla extract, rum flavoring and coconut and mix well. Freeze using an electric ice cream freezer according to the ice cream manufacturer’s instructions.
